'Real Housewife of Miami' Lea Black hosts The Blacks' Annual Gala - April 2, 2011

Lea & Roy Black Present
The Blacks’ Annual Gala: “That’s What Friends Are For” Benefit
With Performances by Dionne Warwick, Pharrell Williams & Pitbull
at Eden Roc Renaissance, Miami Beach

Charitable Event Raises Funds for Education versus Incarceration for Over 7,500 At-Risk Youth

MARCH 22, 2011 – MIAMI BEACH, FL – The Blacks’ Annual Gala, one of Miami’s most prestigious, star-studded charity events is back for the 17th straight year. This year, the gala will be held at the Eden Roc Renaissance Miami Beach on Saturday, April 2, 2011 benefiting at-risk kids through a dynamic public / private alliance with the Miami-Dade County Juvenile Services Department. The evening will begin with red carpet arrivals followed by a cocktail reception, gourmet dinner, both silent & live auctions and a superstar concert with performances by Dionne Warwick (Grammy Award Winning Artist and Actress), Pharrell Williams (Grammy Award Winning Rapper, Singer, Record Producer & Fashion Designer) and Miami's own Pitbull (International Artist, Singer, Songwriter & Producer). Past performers at The Blacks’ Annual Gala include Lil Wayne, Natalie Cole, Paulina Rubio, Patti LaBelle & Rick Ross among others.

“This is our 17th year doing our charity gala and raising money to give kids who are acting out “opportunities” for education, vocational training and exposure to the arts, in lieu of incarceration. Our work with the Juvenile Services Department of Miami-Dade is unprecedented in its ability to help these children envision a future beyond their current circumstances,” says Founder and ‘Real Housewife of Miami’ Lea Black. Adds renowned attorney Roy Black, “It costs less to educate a child than to incarcerate one and this is an event that brings our community together with celebrities, sports stars and a very good cause – it’s great fun and not your typical black tie gala.” Lea adds, “There are terrific performances, incredible auction items to bid on and of course our theme, “That’s What Friends Are For” aligns with our signature statement, that it’s the people who make the party and at The Blacks’ Annual Gala, you’ve got them all!”

"This is our second year hosting The Blacks' Annual Gala and we couldn't be more thrilled," says David Siguaw, Director of Sales & Marketing at Eden Roc Renaissance Miami Beach. "This year, we have created a wide range of production and venues within the hotel. The entire event will display progressive movement throughout all of our beautiful ballrooms".

Guests will arrive and be entertained by an extraordinary silent auction; fashions by Neiman Marcus, Bal Harbour; cocktails courtesy of GREY GOOSE vodka; an exquisite array of edibles presented by award-winning culinary genius, Two Taste Catering; a gourmet meal prepared by Chef Thorsten Leighty of Eden Roc Renaissance Miami Beach; the musical stylings of DJ Irie, the Official DJ of the Miami Heat and our award-winning Grammy performers –Dionne Warwick, Pharrell Williams and Pitbull.
